For the most part gravity is your friend if you have acid reflux. when you lay down there is no gravity to pull down the acid so it can easily get into your esophagus and throat. That is why it is not recommend to lay down after a meal and to make sure your last meal is at least 2 hours before you sleep. To help you when you sleep it is recommended to raise the head end of your bed about 7 ” this will allow you to sleep at a slant and to let gravity help you.
Now if you sleep alone this is fine, but if you have a significant other that maybe does not like sleeping on a hill then a wedge pillow may be for you. Most are about 2’x2′ with the rise either 7 or 12″ high. This is recommended over a bunch of pillows cause it gives you full support from the waist to your head allowing that gravity thing. If you bunch up a bunch of pillows to prop up your head you actually bending higher and aggravating the stomach more.
Tried for first time last night, kinda weird and woke up several times (but I do that anyway) I’ll let you know how it goes.
