Last post I recapped how I did on my 2012 goals and it wasn’t that great. Now its time to sit down and put together my 2013 goals. I will be keeping in mind how I did last year as well as the current treads and trying to be a bit more realistic with the goal setting.
Investment portfolio over 40k. I currently stand at $30,000 and was able to just barley do the 10K increase last year. Last year I did not make as many purchases in my dividend account and most of it was from my automated IRA contributions and market growth. This year I hope to do better with the dividends my making another goal to average at least one purchase a month.
Credit Card Debt. I dont see myself being out of credit card debt by end of the year but I plan on putting a good dent in it. I have one credit card at the moment (I say that because I will be using the business credit card this month) at $11,400 with current principal payments about $215 a month. If I do just that it would pay off around 2,600 in a year. I would like to make at least $2,500 in extra payments so I’m going to make the goal to bring the balance to $6,00
Average $11k a month income. Going to be conservative this time as I just barely averaged $10 a month last year with all income sources. So going to make this year the goal of $11k a month from all sources instead of just studio income.
Net Worth Over $138K. I ended the year at $115K but decided for this year Im not going to include the car any more, I mean its close to worthless now and I had put in $6K for it last year (trade offer this year was only $2k). I do also have my income tax fund that will be spent come April 15th but going to leave that in as theoretically I could use it for emergencies. So Im starting the year at $113,600 and projecting increase in investments, savings and home value Im shooting for a $25k increase.
Walking 4 to 5 times a week. Yep need to get back in the physical activity as I have back slid to once a week. I feel my best when I get in 2-3 miles a day in.
Gym exercise twice a week. As I mentioned I canceled the gym membership as it was a drain on the bank account and I was not going. I will have a ho0me gym by the end of Jan. and plan on doing weights for 20 mins twice a week.
Home Maintenance. This past two weeks we have been attacking the house getting it clean and organized. Actually attacked the bedroom and for the first time in ages it looks and feels like a room again. Also have been attacking the garage room (my old studio) turning it into a craft/gym/play room, half way there. Going to continue this trend and work on a house project every Sunday Morning at a min as well as maintaining a cleaner environment. I’m feeling the un organized house is leading to some of the health and energy issues.
Whole Foods Lifestyle. Just need to continue this and improve, fell off the wagon a bit during the holidays.
Overall I really need to pay better attention to finances. I have created budgets but not really followed them, this will be a big task for me to get everything under control. Also use Mint more to its fullest to track the budget. I started using Outright as well last year to get the business finances on track instead of quickbooks, hopefully this will free up some time for me.
I guess the biggest thing for me is to not procrastinate. Biggest example is the “paperwork” for the business. I always wait a few months to input the orders and financials for the business, then its a scramble and chore to get it all in. I need to adopt and keep a “do it now” mentality.
How about you? What are some of your goals and resolutions for the year??
