Well it has been a few months since we’ve seen a post of this nature. Don’t know if I will still do them every month but thought it would be a good post to kick off the new site. I started this blog way back in July last year, I know its still a baby compared to some of your sites, and I felt it was in need of a remodel. It’s a work in progress, but almost got the look I want. Hardest part is going back through all the posts and assigning featured images. Main thing is the site is totally resonsive and will adjust to whatever size browser or screen (including mobile)
Photography Business
Photography has been chugging along and doing alright. Economy does seem to have taken a bite out of it as photography is kinda a luxury item these days, but being mostly maternity and babies helps as those are once in a lifetime events (well you can get pregnant more than once but you know what I mean). Have been doing a lot of investing in the studio as well this past month or so. New props, organizing, backdrops, and software just to name a few. Will be doing some more of it as well as Im looking at a new computer for processing and updating photoshop, just as soon as apple comes out with an iMac refresh (which I hear could be this month). Unfortunately this will mean taking on a little more debt, but cant be helped my macPro is choking lately and it is an essential business item.
Other Streams
Adsense as well keeps moving along. Not breaking any revenue records but still averaging about $25 a month and off just a few sites. Ive been thinking that from here on out I will not be doing anymore mini-niche sites. They just take up time and lets face it Google is doing all they can to make sure they dont rank. Instead I’m going to just focus on the 3-4 actual blog sites I work on and keep building them up. I have another in the wings Im waiting to develop as well. I think in the long run I will have better effort=income ratio.
Since I’ve been focusing on the photography business I haven’t had much time to work on other sources of income. Amazon has been down as well as my membership site and other sources of secondary income. The studio rental has stopped as of this month as well, since the fitness instructor has decided to go back to a 9-5 job. Seems a lot of people are doing this, my cake maker did this as well last month so had to find a new cake source for our Trash the Cake sessions.
Private advertising is the winner last month for secondary income making about $300-350.
Portfolio
To be honest the portfolio income is on autopilot lately. My Vanguard account continues to get its weekly automatic deposit every Monday but my dividend portfolio with buy-and-hold I haven’t done anything with in a month or so actually, two months. I hope to start that backup again this month as I have a little bit extra income from last month. So any portfolio growth is mainly from dividend reinvestments and market growth which has been doing alright this last couple months.

What has helped the assets and surprising to see is the house value actually going up again. Last time I checked it was hovering at $303K and today is at $309K
Debt wise even though I charged a little bit on the credit cards for business expenses, total debt still went down of course with the house payments and the second mortgage mortgage payment.
What I learned, Goals and milestones achieved
What I am learning is how to stay focused and organized. Its a very hard path to stay on, I keep falling off but each time I get back on its for a longer period.
Goals / Milestones met this month:
$28,000 total investment portfolio completed 09/12
Whats next and Goals
As mentioned above I am laying off the mini-niche sites (unless one falls in my lap) and will be focusing more on the coulpe blog sites that I actually write on, well with somewhat consistency. Also continue focusing on the photography business, improving the studio and the workflow as well as geting clientele base up and steady income mirror above 8K. I also have picked up some more wordpress sites that I’m working on for other clients. Hopefully I can continue to grow this as a recurring posting revenue is a nice steady stream as well.
How did you do in Sept? What do you think of the new look so far? Leave a comment and I’ll love you forever
