Yes we try to budget our spending for maximum savings. I know debt is evil and interest payments are the devil. We’ve been working hard lately to knock both down. But overall we are doing ok financially and there are times to say to hell with the budget and do something for yourself, or for someone something else.
We’ve been talking about it for awhile, the wife finally giving in cause we have mice and she wanted a ‘mouser’. So we went out to look at kittens
and we actually came home with one two. Yep they were so cute we just couldn’t make a choice. The are both rescue cats so we are actually helping them out by adopting them. Yes we did have a big initial outlay of cash to get them and all the bells and whistles to keep them happy and will be a bit more each month. Like I said we are not hurting financially and this is something that makes the family happy, well our cocker spaniel still isn’t sure.
Its ok to deviate from the budget once in awhile to do something fun. As long as you look at the overall picture and it doesn’t hurt you long term. We are able to adjust the budget long term to include their care. We’ll also increase the emergency fund a bit for any you know, emergencies. The initial outlay, hey just won’t put as much into investments this month. I’m all for preparing for the future but if you can’t spend a little now to be happy then whats the point right?
So as I write this I am enjoying hearing them purr on their cat tower, it has a calming effect.
Do you think its ok to break the budget once in awhile?
