Originally a post I decided to make it a page for quick and easy reference.
Yep its a new year, the traditional time to sit down and make our goals for the year. Not resolutions like ‘I will lose weight this year’, which typically get broken quickly, rather firm measurable goals like ‘I will lose 30 pounds this year’. Something you can plan for, perhaps break down to monthly and/or weekly goals, and measure your success.
Well like so many of you this post is about my 2012 goals. Both personal and financial as a record so that I can revisit and see how I am doing. My monthly and even weekly tasks and goals will be working towards these goals as well.
Investment portfolio over 30k. Currently I stand at about 20k. with a max IRA contribution, some good amounts to the buy and hold account, dividends and capital gains, and a bit of luck in the markets I think this is very achievable.
Out of Credit Card Debt. I have one credit card debt left, as of today about $8.5K. I have been putting as much extra I can towards principal each month trying for at least $1k a month. Fallen a little short last 2 months but the goal is to have it done by June this year but as long as its gone this year I’ll be happy.
Average $11k a month from the studio. My comfy level has been about 8-9k a month. If I gross that it should cover all expenses, business and personal. I think I averaged about 10k a month last year (haven’t completed the financials yet) and would like to get that up a little more.
Average 15 regular sessions a month. I have mini sessions and this year will be starting a new budget line session, don’t want to count them (maybe 2 or 3 of these equals a regular session) but would like to have 15 regular sessions a month. With that I should do well.
Secondary Income average $1k a month. This will include income from sources such as Amazon, Adsense, advertising, affiliates and so forth. Last year it bounced around $300-500 and would really like to see it get up to that 1K mark.
Adsense Income to $100 a month. This would help greatly with the above goal. Last month for the first time I broke the $30 a month mark and seems that things are going well. Main reason I would like to get it to $100 a month is thats the level you need for payment and it would be nice for cash-flow to see payment each month instead of waiting. To get there I will be fine tune the sites I have and add to the portfolio while keeping the costs down.
Net Worth Over $85K. Currently Im at about $65K here. I figure if I add $10k to the investment portfolio and Im knocking out $10k of debt this should be very attainable. The only question mark is that we are considering trying to refinance the house to get it to 4% (currently at 6%) and if so we may take out $5-10K to help with house projects and sons college expenses.
Walking 4 to 5 times a week. I have to get back in to my walking routine where I do my 2-5 mi walks at least 5 times a week. I would also like one of them to be the Cowels Mtn hike. Once I get going on this I would like to once a month do Mt Woodson or Iron Mtn.
Gym 1 to 2 times a week. Like above to get back healthy i need to do the gym once or twice a week to keep the muscles in shape.
Bathroom Remodel. Complete the Bathroom remodel by end of March without using any credit!
Whole Foods Lifestyle. This may be more of a resolution but I’m putting it here. I know when I started this last May I felt so much better. Eating 75% or more fresh whole foods instead of processed meals. Last couple months I have fallen to the old ways a bit, even having a few to many starbucks this last month and I feel the difference.
Resolutions are not really goals, not really measurable, but more of habit changes or things you would like to see. We joke how most are broken after the first 2 weeks but I am going to make a couple anyway.
Would like to take more time to shoot for fun. Not just fun model shoots but more landscapes. Just getting out and taking my time and relaxing. No setting up lights, backdrops and posing. Just more simple sunsets 🙂
More family time! Spend more time with the monkey and wife. I have 3 new found sisters that I missed out on for the past 25 years, would like that not to happen in the next 25.
No more procrastination. Ugly habit I have putting things off. Know how much I could have saved in late fees over the years if I just paid bills when they are due? Me either but I see at least $200 just last month.
Keeping better organized. This past year I have let things get ‘messy’ and I need to get back to a well oiled machine, both business and personal.
Well thats it for me for now. I kinda struggled with this post as its been so long since I have actually looked a year out to make goals (if ever). I may come back to this and add a few more as the year starts to progress. We will check in from time to time in a post to see how we are doing. Hope you have set some goals, resolutions, anti-resolutions and wish you luck in making/sticking to them!
